Supporting the Jewellery & Silversmithing Industry to retain its Heritage for the Future Generations.
JSDA is an independent facility that recognises the depth of knowledge and training needed to become a successful crafts practitioner within the Jewellery & Silversmithing industry.
Many creative students go to study a three year degree at University not really knowing enough about the sector they are entering. This facility will allow an insight and overview of possible directions and hands on experience to confirm a three year investment by parents and individuals.
We would like to support employability & enterprise, particularly in relation to the creative industries. we are aware of the opportunities for enterprising, creative graduates who are not only capable of designing and making desirable craft objects, but who can also successfully outsource the production of their designs and market the resulting products.
One of the main objectives of this facility will be to encourage 14-18yr olds to engage in creative industry learning. Part time courses are divised in collaberation with local and regional community's, working in partnership to grow widening participation.
Encourage Further Education/ Higher Education within the specialist skilled areas and enhance employability and Self start up businesses.
We Aim to:-
1) Raise the profile of cultural activity to improve the image and positive perceptions of the West Midlands region.
2) Position the region as the visitor destination for cultural activity of international standard.
3) Attract visitors to the region and encourage local people to become visitors in their own region, now and beyond 2012.
4) Raise participation levels in cultural activity, including young people and people from the region's diverse communities, improving their health and quality of life.
5) Raise skills levels and place young people at the heart of decision-making as cultural producers and future cultural entrepreneurs and leaders.
The growth in media pre occupations with "lifestyle" and "designer" products both reflects and contributes to the development of markets for the entrepreneurial activities of prospective learners.
